I've heard this story many times. The other woman is never better looking. Just younger. Often times she is less attractive. I feel sorry for these women.
As usual the guys here are permissive even though more often than not this situation would lead to divorce by the mother and estrangement from his kids.

No one said that a child should be caasi to their parents or that one should argue with their dad, but it’s crazy how permissive you lot are of a father stealing and abandoning his own family. Most people would be horrified if their parent was a thief, but it’s all wish him the best if he can get a younger woman than your mother right?

Don't ever open a shared account with a man, and make sure he provides as is his duty in Islam. Always keep an emergency fund and make sure your favourite gifts, are those that appreciate in value; gold, land and other assets.
Finally, only give your full love to Allah, with everyone else, try to keep your head.

I'm starting to suspect that there are Somali mothers, whose 2nd marriage is the 'revenge' marriage. As in, their first husband spited them, so they got a 2nd husband, who has deep pockets, even if he's a polygamist. These hooyo's don't want a husband in the house all the time, but they do like their bills paid and their physical needs met. So for them, it's like having a halal long-distance boyfriend with all the benefits and none of the annoying, needy, behaviours.
You see, there are plenty of women who are happy to be with polygamist men. Not every woman is a romantic, some women just want their itch scratched and their bills paid. But no woman, wants a liar and certainly not a tuug who is a liar. That's why they'd rather leave the nasty cheater and get with a man who is openly polygamist and has the funds to back it.

I agree. Like @Angelina said often these poor women give these men money under the impression they will buy property back home on their behalf. Not to bank roll him in the pursuit of another woman.
I have heard cases of men hiding their income sources from their wives while taking their money. And spending it on women back home. Sometimes without the first wives knowing.
Never make any man a sugar baby spouse. It will work to your detriment. You are essentially hoping he has enough shareef and the temperament to do right by you which is a gamble. Not all men are capable of this. Especially those that are opportunistic or sociopathic. That is hard to detect. He might be great until middle age.Nowadays these women are letting their ailing husbands now suffering from multiple chronic diseases resulting in morbidity or morality to their own devices. They (first wives) actually used to help them but now there is greater resistance. That's what happens when you take advantage of their kindness. The young woman back home (2nd wife) won't care (about the old, less attractive and diseased husband who needs medical attention in the diaspora). While a new husband that is probably her age will be on the horizon.
Yep, hardly any of them ever have the intentions of bank rolling them. The story is such a common one. Wife gives husband money to buy land and a villa. Husband then buys it for himself and a younger woman. It’s easy for us to call the first wife naive, but after 20 odd years and at least four kids, you’d think you can trust your other half? Right? Rookie mistake, especially if they’re going Somalia. Polygamy is glorified there and random men will be in his ears. Women are better off going themselves or even trusting their brothers and others to do it on their behalf.

I’ve seen this in real life btw, the couple had adult children, were married for decades and the husband never gave the impression that he was a greedy and evil individual. I think it’s a combination of extreme selfishness mixed with a midlife crisis. Going back home as an older man can cause a lot of issues as opportunistic locals will go out of their way to hook you up and make you feel like you’re not a real man if you’re not polygamous. Also, culturally their aren’t a lot of consequences. Usually the woman’s qabil get involved, the husband is told to fear Allah and the woman is encouraged to still stay married whilst the husband pays her back. The gravity of his actions are always downplayed and the woman’s emotional turmoil is dismissed as petty jealousy despite being fleeced and betrayed!
A lot of Hooyo's stay single, because they find men repulsive and would rather chew glass than have another one in their house. It's often a much easier and happier life being single.

The older generation of Somali men are very selfish, and to treat the mother of your children like that shows that they have no mercy or any shame.
