We shouldn’t but it is commanded as the hate against us will only increase
Am I the only person who thinks the hate was worse back in the 2000s? I’m not trying to be like “ok this is bad…but it was worse back then” but I’m trying to highlight that things have improved. Like does anyone remember when people were full of anger towards muslims because of the Iraq war? When sikhs were attacked because ignorant people thought they were muslim? Charlottesville 2017? The extreme hate against muslims in europe because of the refugee crisis? We survived then and we’ll survive this

It's true the 9-11 era was peak, but the wider society was still giving Muslims a chance and saying we can't blame them all because of the actions of a few.

I was looking for these quotes I saw years ago for a while, written by an orientalist colonialist who saw us as mainly savages, but he picked out one honest trait that you brought up and so I thought I would share it with you...in relation to Somalis not having an inferiority complex and that's what truly irks cadaan people.

You think that way because the Somalis bitterly resent the white man, and struggle
continually, and admirably, by lies and intrigue, to fight off his influence which spells the end of their peculiar world. You cannot beat them. They have no inferiority complexes, no wide-eyed worship of the
white man’s ways, and no fear of him, of his guns or of his official anger. They are a race to be admired, if hard to love.”

“A Somali always felt himself to be twice as good as any white man, or any other kind of man at all, and still does, even when he is wrong. Islam does wonders for the self respect of non-white people and Christianity is right to worry about the spread of Islam in Africa, and must honestly face the question of why it has happened.” Gerard Hanley

Sometimes I feel like being dismissive and laughing everything off is one of our more negative traits and other times I think it’s positive. There have been many threads on here about serious topics that get derailed by trolls or people wanting to change the subject which is disappointing but I also see it as our way of reacting to things like this. Like who cares what random person thinks? is our natural reaction which is both good and bad (we should care & I dislike that people are becoming desensitized to racism).

How many threads have people posted about someone saying the most cuunsuri stuff ever and it’s resulted in people just making jokes or being cuunsuri back? Sometimes it annoys me because I feel like we aren’t taking it seriously but other times it’s nice to joke around & I realize that this upsets our critics more than any cuunsuri response to them ever could.

I think our apathy and lack of inferiority complex upsets people. We don’t feel scared and it annoys people. They can write substack articles about us or post some cuunsuri tweet or tt vid & we just discuss it, make some jokes and move on. There’s no collective mental breakdown or hurt, we make jokes or say something horrific back and move on. Check the other thread I was posting in and you’ll see a racist Canadian posting screenshots from here, keeping up with what we post. Take a scroll through his account and all you see a constant stream of him tweeting qashin as he copes with the changing demographics of Canada & the recent liberal party win. Just pathetic.

Most of these people think they’re edgy but they’re generic & boring so they come up with basic assumptions about us and expect us to mirror the minorities they know and then get mad when we don’t.

My point is that everyone is fair game. There is no group we accept insults from. There is no group that we see as above us. There was a thread on here about a crazy caadan man from MN who went up to a Somali lady in a target and told her to leave the country and she just says no back. She’s older than him, has an accent but she doesn’t care and doesn’t feel scared while the loser racist runs away like a child. This is the caliber of white supremacist we’re dealing with btw. Just losers who have failed in life.

Anyways I’m typing too much now and this is starting to sound really earnest sorry lol so I’ll end it here but I really admire how we brush things off easily even tho it has negatives.

Ur completly right. I was just a child so i wasnt noticing things but my parents always told me how bad it was in early 2000s during bush presidency. I'll give u one story in 2005 hurricane katrina happened in new orleans. The somalis in minnesota did a fund raiser for the victims. They made 1 million and wanted to donate it to katrina survivors. Bush heard about it and guess wht he said. "How did these somali immigrants make 1 million dollars?? We have to investigate" and tht shocked the somali community cuz they thought they would get a thank u for doing something good. The 2000s shows/movies were ALL about muslims and propaganda. Nothing beats tht.

During the early 2000s a bunch of Muslims changed their names to white ones. That time period was crazy.
