Somali height

I've been noticing a recurring pattern lately. Most Somali guys I know are somewhat to significantly taller than their fathers. Actually, I literally cannot think of a single one that isn't. I've also noticed bizarrely that younger brothers tend to be taller than their older brothers. Even within my family, I'm taller than my older brothers, who are in turn taller than my dad. Do you think access to better quality food and healthcare in critical stages of physical growth made a real difference?

I think Somalis as a people are actually quite tall. I'm guessing 5'9 average for males and maybe 5'4 for the women.

What do you think our average height is?
For the males, are you taller than your dad? What about your older brother?

The male average is definitely above 5'9. 5'11 ish with a significant amount of 6 footers. If we're talking healthy Somalis in the west.

But yeah my younger brother is taller than me by a few inches and we both tower over our father.

I was going to say 5'11 too lol, but while from personal experience seems perfectly fine, it's objectively a really high average. I do feel I kind of low balled with 5'9

5'11 is a crazy deviation above the worldwide average. It's the average height general lying attributed to peole of giant stature around the world.

That's from an average perspective not individualistic.

You are not alone it your observation. I have notice the same trend in Ethiopians here in the west. The sons are almost always taller their their father and younger bothers being taller then older brothers. I definitely think its diet. Event the water has hormones in USA.

Yeah, I figured it was higher too. I just looked at the average here which is apparently 5'3 ½ - 5'4, didn't wanna make it seem outrageously high y'know cause i'm strictly relying on anecdotal evidence.

There's quite a few short Somali women though lol. Not everyone is blessed with height
