Hmm. I've experienced that in the sense of I think he was worried I was gonna spread his business, or maybe it was bc the girl was trailertrashesque. But I've seen both girls and guys try to keep things on the dl in general bc let's face it Somalis are motormouths, otherwise why else look guilty, its not like you're his mother, g/f, or some shit. Yeah you hit the nail on the head precisely here. I also think that Somalis in the west are one of the few immigrant Muslim communities that don't really free mix between the genders. Just go to any university and you'll see big groups of Arab guys and girls socializing, and the same with South Asians. Lots of Arabs and South Asians date in uni while Somali guys and girls avoid each other like the plague unfortunately, which is when you get a perverse situation where "Hillary becomes easier than Halimo", because Hillary is the girl who you interact with at school or work everyday.

Somali youth would rather free mix with ajnabi from the opposite gender then their own for fear of community backlash, which is part of the problem. There needs to be halal ways for these youth to interact. For barely nominally Muslim Somali males, this is how they fall into the trap of ending up married to a white girl. It's a problem that will only increase with time and I don't think there's an easy solution.

Pertaining to your question though, my guess is that Somali guys avoid dating Somali girls because it's easier. Community wise, most EA cultures tend to be very gossipy so every one and especially their mothers would know if they dated a fellow Somali girl. Also, there is less social and religious stigma with dating in Western cultures so white girls would also be an easier pick in that regard. White girls would probably willing to do certain things that traditional Somali girls wouldn't as well (and there are some Fboys who feel entitled to fooling around with white girls when young and then ending up with someone from their own culture once they're done with their shenanigans...).

I don't know why they marry them though...unless they're super westernized.
