Marwo bashiir was running for IPU prez seat and was close to winning until the somali gov sent a paper to the judges behind her back stating that she quit the race.

I honestly can't believe this shit. It would have been an honor to all somalis around the world for a somali person to be in that position. Instead of trying to brag about a somali candidate making it so far and possibly getting the position, they sabotaged her! How could they send a paper behind her back saying she quit? Yeah the security council position is far more powerful. It's where concepts like the arms embargo that is on our nation is discussed. Though the seat is temporary I think it's a calculated gamble considering it's far more valuable. This is not to say that the attempted withdrawal was good in any way, but if they're able to get the UNSC position then it's well worth it.
