Mostly due to deen reasons. I don’t think such an activity is acceptable for a Muslim. Going on such shows illustrates how far from the deen some have become and also the shame aspect. There has always been irreligious people in our community, but they were still conservative enough to not put themselves out there. We all know an Abdi or Xalimo who are very laid back when it comes to religion, but they have enough sense to not showcase that on national TV.

Also, the humiliation aspect. Most darker skinned women on loveisland do not fare well. It’s so bad that even gaal madow girls have recently been discouraging other madows from going on that show. Even madow men are usually treated like a last resort by white women on that show. The only reason why people don’t talk about it in depth is because in society there is something more pitying about a woman being treated that way. People simply see it as more humiliating when it happens to a woman.

Yep, even non black ethnic women find it hard, although Ekin Su did rather well despite being Turkish. But then again, Ekin can pass for a Spanish/Italian woman and she has that charisma and ‘it’ factor the boys couldn’t ignore.

The reality is that white men and women simply prefer their fellow whites, it doesn’t matter how beautiful a non white girl is, she simply isn’t going to have as successful time as a white girl, even a basic one.
