I read the Reddit thread, he was actually demanding $100K for everything, including wedding, sooryo, yarad, meher, etc. He also wanted him to move from Michigan to Minnesota to be close to her parents and sell his house in Michigan instead of her moving there. He had other demands as well. He clearly doesn't want to have her married to him.

The comments of that Reddit post are the biggest weakest links. The father raised his daughter for 18+ years he should be obliged to demand any amount he wants. Asians make it a nightmare for foreigners to marry in anyways.
