Somalis live actually more spread apart than what people think. Only 64k of out of 164.00 American Somalis live in Minnesota , Maine is only 10 000 similar to California Somalis so the rest of the 90 000 live scattered in other states and cities in America.
Somalis are not even 1% of Minneapolis population. There is less Somalis than any other group you can think of. There is more Asians, Latinos, Arabs and Africans than there are Somalis.
The only reason why Minnesota Somalis get more exaggerated attention in the media is because of Islamophobia and Somalis civic participation rates are higher there, in so far as they get involved in political leadership. But it mostly comes from a loud rightwing nutcase political pundits from outside of Minneapolis. Minneapolis is like 85% democrat socialist.

We will have a noticeable wealth gap in 15 years due to the uneducated and unemployed falling into the poverty cycle and the educated professionals fitting into corporate America
There are more Vietnamese in Minnesota than all Somalis combined .Somalis will assimilate into madow culture due to us being poor and living on government assistance .The rest who are educated will fall into corporate America like Asians and live far away from most Somalis
You are definitely not an American Somali. The 2nd generation don't blend in and assimilate with Black Americans(Madows) and other nationalities, especially outside professional space. Even in School Somalis just stick together, attend Islamic schools and stay connected to the Masjid.
