Somali Diaspora Reform

Currently the Somali Diaspora have been in the west since 91 and it pains me to see large numbers are not value-adding from where the first generation was. If this isn't fought or addressed, the end outcome is simply a never-ending generational failure. The following is only a guide but what I suggest is to aim to save mellenials and the generation after. These out-dated communities with old somali men need to step away as they are not in-touch with western culture.

The Diaspora center world-wide should follow the below format.

1. Center where young males can come on the week-end or after school to kill time. Entertainment facilities
2. During Holiday period to take them on weekly trips either camping, day trips, etc to ensure their time is occupied
3. Life Mentors. Both successful/failure ones must be brought in to give them their life lesson. Monthly
4. Tutors in Maths/Science/Literacy.
5. Build up their social network with successful communities. Find out 'elite' zipcode and build early bridges between them. It's well known the work market is nepotism driven and if they are isolated from these important networks early in life, they are finished.

This template should be a 'guide' for all diaspora centers to capture the youth so they do not inherit the same generational problems like other communities with their nonsense of carving boundaries where it only hurts them in the end.

The problem isnt rampant with somali females, it's these single mother young males where the issue is and it needs to be addressed not expect it resolves itself, it doesn't, look at single mom males worldwide, the statistics are horrible

Gen Z r mellenials. But single mom male kids r the problem segment, which is a problem segment across all communities, but we must deal with them, not hope it fixes itself. Im not blaming the mother they r trying but those dead-beat dads the community center needs to take upon that role following the format I said. That's what active fathers do for their kids

Another thing is we can create a system everytime there is a job opening on your workplace we can have a an only Somali forum where those jobs are listed so we can keep the Jobs among us. We can recruit the most violent young men from our community to the Western armies, if they die on mission it's a win win situation for us, we have shown the new host country loyalty and we got rid of trash in the process. An Yeah create a education and success focused culture rutines habits among our youth.

We must bring ppl who failed in life to give them information on the route they went through, to save them from the 'experimenting' stage or doing what their friends do to fit in. They must be shown the pittance they earn by following their local drug dealer life becuz in all honesty it looks attractive to a kid at first in low socio-economic era and single mom house but when they balance it against the time they will spend in prison earning nothing, if they calculate it, it's less then a mcdonald worker wage.

I once read an article about the success of the North African Jewish Community in France compared with the poverty and low status of Arabs when both communities came to France in the same era 1960s. A Jewish person who got interviewed said when he landed in Paris airport from Tunisia the already existing White Jewish community was waiting for him literally guiding him from the first minute in France with a mentor showing him how to get a good job, good school for the kids, he said he noticed nobody was waiting for the Arabs that was with him in the same plane.... if someone is going to build great things for the Somali community in the diaspora it has to be someone who already has his own life in order, someone with the mental capacity it requires, probably the reason why the Native French Jewish community had the resources to help their fellow Jews from North Africa.

The new migrants need a separate path-way judging by their age and education. If they lack skills and to old, they should be sent to an english course, give them their real options such as factory-taxi-truck driving, set them up with life plans to save their kids while sacrificing themselves.

Give them a quick understanding of the culture they are in and not to waste their time trying to change it becuz their in the minority but to live with side by side. Do not describe the culture based on how 'negatively' you view it, just lay down the culture as it is without adding opinion. Tell him his kids is his investment and to keep a strong household intact warning him the issue of single mom raised male kids

@LasanoodBoy the problem is very deep-rooted in unstable families who produce single moms who end up in poor areas with young males feeling trapped without any guidance becuz the mother is busy keeping them alive.

They need to learn even how to date and select partners so something positive comes out not something negative. A real holistic approach would be their taught how to identify partners and ensuring they have shared goals. They must be told the truth a house is spent 99.99% of the time in communication not sex, so if they select partners only 4 looks, this will mean 99.99% of the time they in big trouble as trouble will start brewing.

Plus they need to know personality fit is mandatory and most importantly shared goals. Most Somalis repeat their ancestors mistakes not contributing or adding anything to what their fathers did like some damn 'sanab'. It's a shame truly, they live n copy, not contribute

Do u know in Somalia right now- the culture of Arab still goes on? Somali parents send their small young children to Baadiye rural areas to learn and become Quran Hafidhs? This is a culture of Arab dating back to Prophet pbuh

@LasanoodBoy I watch Somali parenting style in absolute SHOCK. They just copy n paste how they were raised or copy other Somalis, leading to the same predictable outcome. They should identify the positive traits from all cultures and combine it. For example indian/chinese take from them their strategy to keep their kids engaged in studies.

From whites their honesty/morality. From blacks how they keep the joy/fun aspect. Sit down with their partner and say this is what we identified that works to create the best from all aspects. This will ensure u took the best from all cultures, identified it towards each area of ur kids life that is important. They don't know hot mix n match n taking positives from everything to create 'perfection', they know only how to copy something completely n extremely and that also copies their negativity completely.

No, they won't they will just repeat how they were raised, not adding an inch of progress.

@Basra we lost hodan naaleeye, a true pioneer trying to westernize Somalia to the new generation so they don't become lost and forgotten into the western world and disconnected. Somalia faces a diaspora crisis when GEN Y/Z are gone who had little connection thru their parents. Plus the civil war is raging which might be a tactic by foreigners to ensure it never has any hope from rising thru diaspora input and be stuck with warlord-terrorist generation as it dwindles towards non-existence.

Infact english isn't official language which will cause huge barriers for gen y/z who will not be able to connect and leave, plus it harms locals who are self imposing isolation from knowledge and work opportunities since it's all english. Their learning languages that have no real value besides 'identity preservation' but u can't preserve an identity if the ppl go extinct due to isolating themselves from english tongue which is the business n knowledge language.

Even Islam and Christianity demands humans to work hard to get fruits. This is not just a question about single mothers. The majority of failed somali homes the father is married with the mom and stays in the home. The problem is our people are Jaahiil ignorant people no different than the ignorant Eastern European Jewish community of 19 century that was poor backward until they learned their ways in the system.

They say god measures humans on the day of judgement on their value and reward. But I don't see anyone measuring anything in Somalia or Diaspora for it's result, they just do everything out of ignorance or sometimes even a sense of pride against others. But never ever will u see them talk 'lets review' the statistics of our way of life and where it heads.

I don't think it's wise strong men n weak systems, but each to his own. But putting ur faith into fallible ppl and not the reliability of a strong system doesn't reason well with me. Plus clan is a reality on the ground, we can waste time ignoring it and dismissing it and enforcing 'social systems' un-fit for the reality but we know where that led to from the 60s-90s, it doesn't last as it will collapse when the 'real' social identity over-runs the 'fake one' imposed. Im suprised we don't 'adapt' systems to local realities rather then just copying-pasting.

This idea of copying something completely also copies it's negativity. A mosaic of selecting the good parts of all systems and merging with local realities is the best outcome as u leave behind negative aspects.

China crafted it's system to fit chinese characteristic. The system must reflect on-ground realities, not 'foreign country on-ground realities'.

I noticed a lot of diaspora somalis tend to put the the full blame on the father for abandoning his family (which is understandable) but even then there are other young somali men with fathers in their lives who are still lost.

I think having a successful male figure who's a little bit older than them in their lives will give these young somali guys inspiration to follow a better more brighter path.
