That guy deleted the video btw. He’ve received a lot of controversy about kids marrying below the age of 18. His context was: if Somalia going to become secular then the kids (below the age of 18) are going to start having sexual relationships (Zina) and start having babies out of wedlock. If they keep the restrictions (marrying kids below the age of 18) then this going to be a traditional marriage. Where things going have moral orders.
The big problem is we’re living in a different time.
Whether Somalis who have extreme Islamic religious views accept this idea and calls it sunnah needs to understand how this is an outdated practice and doesn’t help kids anymore.

Back in the day: kids were taught to be adults. And pushed to be adults. Which is why child marriage was a thing. Unlike nowadays where kids are overprotected and treated like infants until they’re forced to move out of their parents. It’s a useless damaging idea. The idea of an old man marrying a Somali woman in Somalia (thats looks 13) is pure paedophilia. Not sure why this is an issue. Glad Somalia is progressing on this.
