Cultural revisionists like the guy who tweeted this nonsense are attempting to separate us Somalis from our rich common cultural heritage that we’ve shared with other Arabs for centuries; ranging from food/cuisine to dress/clothing.

Food stuff like maraq, bariis iyo digaag and so forth did originate in Arabia. Another popular dish called Ful originated in Egypt.

All of these things I’ve listed have been localised/“Somalified”, since we’ve been consuming them for a long time & came up with our own variations.

We still have galley, haruur/masago, muufo, digir, fuud, soor/shuuro, and many more which are Somali origin. Of course, we adopted many other things from other cultures.
