Don't dogs live for 10 years too

True. That's one of the reasons I'm wary of getting pets. The only ones that can live as long as you are reptiles. Nobody likes cold-bloods. They're creepy as f*ck too. They can stay a day without moving a muscle and then just jump on some fly suddenly at lightning speeds. :mjcry:

I love pets but only when they're not mine I keep playing with the golden retriever of my friend. I'm becoming attached to it :damn:

Yea, that sounds like a more practical explanation; the culture/religion interplay could be where the rules originated from. I remember my parents surprised to see how Westerners treat their dogs because most pets were strays and would only get left over scraps when they were growing up. And Labrador Retrievers seem awesome!, they're in my top 4 list of fav dogs...if I ever end up getting any. Did you have any experience dealing with/taking care of dogs before you got Amur?

Bill Clinton once quipped, it's the economy idiot. Cultural norms and economic decisions are inter-twined and became cultural practices. Wil you look after a dog (though already condemned as haram because of cultural reasons) in the diaspora when relatives are in so much need to be financially supported back home?

This is my second dog, my first, Caliph was a Rottweiler and died in 2015. But, I used to share houses with people who had dogs.

No arguments from me there; economy is mos def the foundation of the "superstructure". I'm assuming the question you posed was rhetorical...

Sorry to hear about Caliph's passing, that's probably the worst part about getting a pet tbh.

:what1:
why the hell did u call ur pet the caliph. R u trying to trigger us.

Paladin,

Like a good deceased uncle of mine, he was cross eyed and I named after him. The name Caliph existed prior to Islam.
Iga rali ahow, that is a touching tribute to ur uncle.

I don't know why but I figured u did not like ur family.

No worries mate, apology accepted. Thanks

There are certain people on my extended family that I don't get along, but this uncle was my favourite. He was very religious and well educated who helped immensely with school work. He was the first one I confided with my doubts about religion. He was not only supportive, but strongly believed every young born Muslim should question their faith in order to possess strong faith. He was dejected with my final decision, however he called it work in progress and from time to time sent me islamic literature he thought it might sway me. I hope he is in the Islamic Jannah. RIP

You must had a wrong impression of me or, you are mixing me up with somebody else.

Even if I am an fellow non-muslim,I know that you can't have a dog if you are muslims. Do some people really want to conform into western society, that they want a dog regardless of what the faith says. What next I drink alcohol but I pray five times a day so it is fine. At least if you call yourself a muslim, have to commitment to follow it.
I want a dog cus there cute and people in the western world have them so why can't i even though I am muslim. fucking pathetic.

I would rather a liberal Muslim who drank alcohol assimilated and owned a dog, than a salafi wahabbi stupid person who looks down on everyone and brings his or her ideology to the west, I hope more Muslims are just Muslims by name in the future

Unfortunately most people are fundamentalists who constantly judge and forget there are other people who don't choose to follow the Deen the same way. No wonder we have an extremism problem. Can't people just live and let live especially when it doesn't even affect you?
