Its a respectable living, and absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s cheap enough to go a debt free path, and if you continue schooling you can make over 100k. There’s people I know with an associates in Nursing raking it in at over that through working with agencies and travel Nursing.

They don’t make 40k. Nurse assistants make that.

You guys are not being realistic. Even at the typical 70k working a staff job and only the 3/days a week, considering the level of responsibility and the lack of prohibitive cost, that’s a decent living compared to many other “working class” professions.

Erm, nurses don’t have to. They have Nurse Assistants/Patient Care Techs for that.

For med school, you have to have a lot of “direct patient care hours” in those positions as a prerequisite for your application, bc they don’t want just anyone who hasn’t worked with a patient population to just f*ck off to med school and get shit out the other end, in mountains of debt, only to find you can’t handle pts.

I tried to skirt around it by doing phlebotomy, but no luck. That’s not considered “direct patient care”. I was such a princess about it at first, but idgaf anymore. Pretty quickly, you see crazy traumas and conditions in an ICU, and bms don’t faze you.
