NEWS Somali Civil Aviation Authority denies landing rights to FlyDubai flight to Hargeysa

I think fly dubai turning back has more to do with UAE issuing ban on people entering the country even with residential visas so the flight attendants and everyone else didn’t want to be stuck in hargeisa as they usually spend couple hours there waiting for passengers flying back to Dubai on same plane + flight time means they would have been cutting it close with the ban deadline so they chose to turn back to Dubai

Brother do you really expect people from the AMISOM colony to be rational thinkers?

Several qaraxs in the AMISOM colony today and they are still busy with Somaliland and its airspace. These are the same people who were convinced cheesehead would touch down in Hargeisa. There is no point trying to debate with them waa umad dhimatay sxb

The flight was diverted as it approached Hargeisa because Air traffic control didn't let them land.

it looks like it has nothing to do with Villa Somalia however this is from fly Dubai website

Somaliland is among destinations flydubai will not fly to or from during coronavirus outbreak. This is effective March 19th. The flight you showed us left Dubai 4 am March 19th. It was in violation and had to turn back. It has nothing to do with Villa Somalia

Somaliland supremacy
Ethiopian Airlines Cancels Flights to Mogadishu but not to Hargeisa
Addis Ababa (SD) – Ethiopian Airlines has announced a list of countries that it will not be flying to and those it will, as the world faces the threat of the Coronavirus.

Ethiopian Airlines says it has canceled flights to many countries including Somalia after the government announced it had canceled all international flights exempting Somaliland.

The Airliner’s flights to Somaliland appears to be challenging the Somali federal government’s ban and control of the country’s airspace.

“The normal flights to Somaliland will remain the same as Somaliland airports are operating regularly.” Ethiopian Airlines said in a statement.

The Somali government has already banned all international flights, including flights from Ethiopia, while Somaliland, which claims to be an independent country has not stopped Ethiopian flights.

The Ethiopian Airlines decision comes as the Somali PM Hassan Kheyre is in Addis Ababa and its not clear whether he will address the issue or not.

They were suspended today cause of the travel ban by the Somali government.

It's after one of the planes had to divert today as it wasn't allowed to enter Somali airspace.

Not because of somalia government but because of Fly Dubai’s own policies of dealing with coronavirus. Ethiopia airlines is still flying to hargeisa despite this so called ban you speak of

What?

The plane left UAE and was nearing Somali airspace but was not given permission to land that's why it had to turn back.

UAE has only stop arrivals not departures into the country, it's quite clear. Not sure what you're trying to argue.

What do you mean just stop arrivals no departures ? The plane lands and waits for the next flight of passengers who are departing back to the UAE. It went back because of Somaliland being added to Fly Dubai list of areas it will not fly to during coronavirus outbreak. That flight leaves Dubai at 4 in the morning and is one of the first flights to leave Dubai from that terminal. It turned back because of Fly Dubai policy

It doesn’t need permission from Mogadishu to land that’s why Ethiopian airlines is still flying to hargeisa despite “Ban” by Mogadishu.

Don’t fall for low level propaganda like this

No more arrivals into the UAE, people can still leave hence why the plane still left and was on route to Somaliland.

All planes do need permission from Xamar into Somalia, companies aren't going to ignore this as it has bad legal ramifications.

It turned back to make sure the flight attendants and pilots can make it into Dubai. The plane lands around 7 something in hargeisa and waits for the next batch of passengers flying to Dubai (usually). If they did that they would have missed the 12 pm deadline and would have been barred from entry.

Also fly Dubai and Ethiopian never get permission from Mogadishu. The fact EA is still flying to hargeisa despite Mogadishu issuing a ban is all the proof you need. I don’t know why you want to live in a fantasy about this

How are you in such denial? Yaab.

So the plane does normal flights in the previous days but today decides to turn back just before entering Somali airspace when it had announced a travel ban?

Some scheduled flights from Ethiopian Airlines don't have information on landings or arrivals.

Until I see solid proof of them ignoring air traffic control which could happen then I will assume that no flights are coming into Somalia.
