Somali Cities by Pop. (2005): How has this list changed today?

2005 is fake
2005 estimates are more commonly used and accepted by most people. Ask any somali or anyone familiar with somali cities which of the two sources seem more correct to you. Most people would say 2005 estimates are more reliable for that time period.

@NotreDame harti is a nation

Puntland 4 million:dead::dead:
It's true, somalia, puntland, somaliland, Ogaden region, and even NFD. All of Somaliweyn has been under-represented when it comes to population. Most estimates are weird and very outdated, and at the end of the day; nothing more than estimates. A real census would put most populations much higher than the estimates.

You seem like a bright honest guy judging from your intellectual posts. But Puntland being 4 mil in population is a big joke.

@NotreDame density is another thing. I noticed with hargeisa and burco there is hardly any people or vehicle traffic in comparison to Bosaso or Galkacyo. If u walk or drive 1 km in bosaso in comparison to hargeisa, u will see clear difference in density and how many people u encounter is vastly different.

NotreDame u can't fudge electricity and water consumption rates, they are physical 'assets' in a city that can be inspected. Recently Bosaso added 7 MW of solar power to it's power station. That will power up 1400 new homes. Probably intended for the new gated community 'guryosamo' which will be a energy hog because it's going to be fitted out with all the bells and whistles of modern homes in the west.

@AarHawd_7 stay out of this topic please, you are not fit for it. You don't understand how to infer from physical infrastructures and workout population based on energy/water consumptions of cities. Just sit down and go back to id22r nonsense of posting google satellite images of how much land a town sits on. If this was the case then why is tokyo which is very small land mass highly populated? it's because of business and trade.

Bosaso is like Tokyo of Somalia, it's full of activity and not like that burco shithole which is a sleepy country town. The reason u can tell no-one goes to Burco from Somalia, they drive past it, have lunch and leave to Hargeisa. The only city u really do have is hargeisa and I question Hargeisa myself because it's not metropolitan city in my book. It doesn't have any essential ingredients of a major city, it has a country town feel to it, it's not bustling and popping like bosaso is

Brother, Tokyo metropolitan is the second largest city in the world by size. Very horrible example.

in your feelings yet? yall too sensitive for me.
My source says 2018 estimate is 16K population.
What is your source? Wikipedia?:mjkkk:

@NotreDame, Jowhar district’s population is around 350k-450k and it alone makes up 3/6 of Middle Shabelle region’s population.

And that is without adding the IDPs to the equation.

@NotreDame look how big harti land is... if u divide somalia into 3.... harti will be 1/3 of that .... bigger land bigger population
Looks like someone went hard in the (Microsoft) paint without the consideration of the actual borders. :icon lol:

NotreDame pls grow up and stop being as a dumb id22r the example I used isn't the point. He is arguing land sprawl and spreading a city out on a larger land mass means it's big. Then look at washington dc it sits on more land then manhattan, but manhattan is 1.6 million, washington dc is 600k, land mass size means nothing. The other thing u need to account for is inter-regional population who come from all over Somalia to use the port. Bosaso is like london, it's settled population is lesser then the amount of ppl who come in during the day from outside Bosaso.
