It's weird that the AAs there use somali words but the somalis can't speak it

Most Somalis in Canada don’t know Somali. I knew this when all the elderly would be impressed I spoke fluently at a young age. 90% of them could understand somali but can’t speak it. Their parents would understand english but can’t speak it. So the kids would speak english with some somali thrown in and the parents would respond in Somali with some english thrown in kkkkk
