Somali camel raiding culture

This video can be hard to understand due to the old school Somali he’s using but I found it interesting seems like this was common practice in our grandparents and earlier eras
This is so much easier to understand than the modern documentaries. Maybe it is due to the vocabulary and the good pacing used. What lahjad do you speak?

He’s a famous poet ask older members of your family about him
My Awoowa used to talk about how camel tuug was rather common especially if you was wealthy but it would mostly happen to the smaller camel rancher due to them just being family ran. So with camel ranching in Somali regions there was a common watering wholes the community would water there camels and other live stock from. These watering wholes is where a lot of fights used to happen at due to other camel shepherds not wanting to wait for another camel shepherd to water a 1k heads of camels at one time.
