Somali Boy Graduates, Makes His Hooyo Proud

This is cute, but personally I feel like graduating from hs is pretty standard.. uni graduation is the true "I made it" moment. If you don't graduate high school (living in the West ofc) then you're just a loser. :mjlol:

It is still something to celebrate when neither of your parents graduated high-school or even public school (Father in the military and Mother during agriculture/sales).

Many Somalis have that experience, it's the first you made step for the parents, seeing their children achieve tangible succes that they couldn't have. :manny:

mfw all this negativity in my thread

Man, our graduation practice was a mess.
It was great. :sass1:
The security counselor basically said we couldn't decorate our caps because our ceremony was supposed to be "like church," and everyone booed at him. :mjlol:
And then when were practicing our walks they forced us to do it again and again and everyone was getting mad because it was hot as hell outside
Also our student council/ASB president messed up the Pledge of Allegiance by saying "one nation, under all" instead of "one nation, under God" and a bunch of people got offended and yelled at her :chrisfreshhah:
At the end of the day I snuck in a decorated cap and I still got my diploma so overall it was pretty fun :sass2:

Also some Nortes and Suarenos (Spanish Northern California gangs) got into a fight and one of them fired gunshots in the air next to our graduation, a field full of hundreds of people, and they all panicked so that was neat.
Wallahi I'm not making any of this up :mjkkk:

Lmao that's funny. Mine was pretty boring :francis:

We had to sit through 2 hours of speeches and then walk across the stage. And we didn't have any type of practice, just walk and hope for the best :russ: A few people stumbled cause the carpet was a bit rolled up but no one fell

Congrats to the kid and his family

But still it's funny lol, most of my folks didn't even come to my Uni graduation. My dad was working at the time so he couldn't make it but he called me to say congrats but during our convo he said he'd be more elated to see me become a doctor and not get some 4 year rubbish degree all the habyars be getting while working at walmart :damedamn::ileycry::dwill:walahi it may seem harsh but tough love is what our somali boys really need instead of getting babied for doing the bare minimum. No wonder why our Somali sisters be out performing us academically.:kanyehmm:
Fr, I won't make a big deal out of my Uni graduation. I would skip it if it didn't mean I would have to wait longer to get my diploma. Nowadays everyone graduates Uni. Not sure why this mom is crying that her son graduated high school. Blessings to him though. Praying he goes to college.

We had to practice for our graduation for when we had to walk in the hall and shit.
:drakelaugh:

It was doing the same shit on the day but the only difference is our parents were there.

I told my hooyo to stay cause there would be no point.
:drakekidding:

My year 11 graduation was shit, they made us wear emerald green graduation capes :mjkkk:

We were given nothing but we had to wear our normal school uniform.

Please, tell me your 11 graduation was not as shit as mine.
:browtf:

can you imagine emerald green capes? It was fugly. And 99% of the girls wore 7ft heels which they could'nt walk in. :francis: it was a mess wallah :francis:

At least you were given something.
:browtf:

Are the girls in your school shit heads? I can confirm your area is out of the United One Regions of West London. Your area can claim East London now.
:comeon:

"Thank you for using the 6 month trial of the United One Regions of West London. In order to join, you must abandon all signs of road man behaviour to be accepted in this prestige institution."

To win, to grin, to put all these peasants in the bin.

graduation is not the thing. it's the mom being proud of her son. How many people here on this forum can legit claim that their mother is proud of them and what they do in life?

Damn, I'm envious as hell. I graduated with 11.7 and with bonuses 12.5 (12 is the highest grade in Denmark).

My dad wasn't even impressed when teachers came to congratulate him.

His answers was: I expect my girl to be succesful and a good student, anything less and I send her back to Somalia. The teachers and I was speechless, I was only a -b away from being send home. :russ:

Danish high-school graduation are lit:
We all wear the same silly hat and party trough the city where people greet us with follows :bell:

I was like a black hole in a white sheet with all dem white kids :pachah1:

A few of them tried to get with me at the celebration party while my father was there :mjlol:

I was wearing a thight sundress and a hijab :snoop:

I've become more modest over time.

I think it was my own rebellion and mourning proces over my mother's death. We have different ways to get over tragedy.

I just hope nothing like that befalls you.

my dad passed away when i was 14. i had plenty of opportunties to rebel, go nuts and become another iyala suq.

i honestly believe boys relationship with their mothers and girls relationship with their dads when they are young can make or break them.

You're right, in a couple more years or maybe in a decade 4 year bachelor degrees are going to be just like high school diplomas. So its best to get a masters or go for your doctorate if you plan on living in the West for awhile. But Mashallah to them nonetheless
