There was a time that most military officers received their training abroad mostly in the former USSR and to a lesser extent Syria, Egypt, Iraq, the UK and Italy.

Wondering why the keffiyehs as well. Somalis wore turbans historically but not keffiyehs. You'd see it sometimes with tribal elders when they got all dressed up but it was rare. Not our thing.
