this is a chicken and egg situation. while not being from the UK i'm well aware of how xaasid many of the jamaicans and nigerians in the UK were to somalis, going all the way back to the 90s. but this is likely a phenomenon contained to the UK (at least in the anglophone world). i've never seen this expressed in the US or canada, we are firmly black over there. even taking the bush era and the heavy surveillance of somali people by the FBI. but this is a global propaganda war so we must acknoloedge that the thoughts and opinions of certain groups matter more than others. in the "mainstream" spaces of tiktok and twitter, americans and black americans are more valuable, the latter even act as social gatekeepers determining whats okay to mock and what isn't. the UK blacks are routinely mocked and the mere idea is a joke itself.

i disagree, the PoC haven't been helping and will happily join in for approval but the specific brand of hate towards somalis that we're seeing manifest isn't coming from them

there are strategies to that kind of thing, i've just rambled about them in this post but these are not something discussed on open forums. it's totally possible to bend the twitter alogorthm to your will and do social engineering from your home, the same mechanisms elon uses to promote racists can also be used by us but frankly i don't have the time to contribute to such an endeavor

but really, the most you can do is move on with your life, career, family etc the people around you matter a whole lot more than online edglelords with a midlife crisis. it all starts from the individual level, and being an admirable indivudal is the best propaganda the

We need our own film industry to help combat the damage barkhad has done on a global scale.

We need good looking somali male actors also working in western film industries and outside like China, the Gulf, India and even in South America.

Madows have a strong presence in the American film industry because they've fought for representation for 80+ years. Majority of the diaspora isn't abandoning the west anytime soon so we might as well try to fight for better representation in Hollywood.

I know that the greater picture is Hollywood, which initiated this smear campaign and the civil war to portray us as aggressive and unmanageable. They were looting our oceans and exploiting our routes for free, so when they received their retribution from the local fishermen, the capitalists and their scoundrel Jewish puppets knew it was all about perception and press power, so they used their control of Hollywood to paint themselves and their crimes as good.

Share or make a thread about those strategies to reverse engineer the least you could do if you won't have the time to take part in it.

Madows have had it in for us ever since we arrived in the west. These tensions have been ongoing since before social media, yet some Somalis have convinced themselves that this is all because of online trolls. A lot of the insults directed at Somalis by madows have been around before social media.

In my estimation, the stark reality remains: Somalis were unequivocally denied acceptance as Madow. This transcends the simplicity of complexion; for instance, black Indians are not subject to the same label. The distinctive phenotype, characterized by varying degrees of blackness among Horner's, juxtaposed with Eurocentric phenotypes, firmly put Somalis in a separate and millisecond identifiable category.

Let's consider that the media war originated in Europe or the UK, given its greater diversity compared to America. In America, due to its vast size, Somalis were able to keep to their own business, and the sheer magnitude of social media and diverse topics lessened the frequency of Somali mentions. However, the landscape has shifted for American Somalis, as they find themselves increasingly involved. Delving into history books, particularly during the civil war when Somalis sought refuge in the UK, the question arises: were they embraced as Madow by the Madow community? Absolutely not. Documentaries from the 2000s feature Madow individuals asserting their differences from us and even advocating for our return.

It took me a considerable amount of time to connect the dots. Whenever a Somali is associated with any negative action or narrative, I solemnly swear that it will be explicitly highlighted that the individual is Somali, distinctly separating them from the broader black community. However, when positive actions are in play, suddenly they emerge to claim them. The Madow community has consistently labelled us solely as Somali since our arrival in the West, so let's dispel that illusion.

The majority and the relentless campaign to tarnish our reputation have consistently been led by people of color, not just the Madow community. Whites, for the most part, have remained indifferent; we held little significance for them until they recognized that people of color were also against us. Now, they use us as scapegoats. Therefore, I advocate for an anti-everyone stance in this era. This is not the time to hesitate or point fingers; instead, it's the time to stand solely for oneself and one's folk.
