So I bought land back home

Bought 2 plots at abaarso. Everything is under my name but the former owner I bought it off is giving me problems asking me to pay another 1k Canadian for tax or else hes gonna beef me. Now I gotta go there to deal with it.

Anyone had problems buying land back home ?

My family had some similar problems when we bought the land back home, you gotta be firm wallahi, or else that 1k will turn into 3k quick.

It’s best to buy whilst you are there in person or know someone in that area you trust to purchase/look after the land for you

After you have paid and get the ownership docs the previous owner has no right coming to you for more money

When I bought mine clan elders from the owners side signed off on the ownership papers to act as guarantors so if anything went wrong they’d be liable to pay

Why go back for just 1k?! It doesn't make any sense. Just send one of your uncles or relatives to sort out the issue and if it becomes a legit thing that has to be paid then pay it. Travel costs back and forth will be more than 5k tbh. It's not worth it.

yeah that’s what I figured but it’s so annoying how people back home think they can squeeze abit more off you even after having agreement. Anyways I trust my family back home to get it done.

I would only buy land from a family member to keep it drama free and simple.

You’ll need to enclose your land in the near future. Unless you want squatters or for someone who owns the land near yours to fully engulf it.

Have family periodically check on the land to make sure it’s sittin empty. You probably won’t find a watchman.

It’s literally outside of hargeisa and it’s not bad price compared what I heard others buy in hargeisa or outside of it
