You lost the war in 80s what are you talking about if it wasn't for the USC/SPM opening a second front in the south you would have never entered the northern cities the whole northern division of the army left for Gaalkacyo in 1991 during the USC assault I know this because General Abdiaziz Ali Barre was in charge of that army he's from my juffo

The SNA couldn’t hold territory and were being beaten in conventional war with the SNM so signed a treacherous deal with ethiopia to give up somali Galbeed and told Ogaden we’ll give you the north. Then SNM invaded the north and barre had 2 option bomb the north or step down as his army would have had to surrender and he bombed the north. This lead to the isaaq population entirely turning into militants. With the hope of the north gone Ogaden rebelled against barre. When barre bombed the north he collapsed the Somali shilling, on top of that all international aid was cut. This lead to the cago barar in xamar and the hawiye uprising. Nigga you had 2 choices surrender or Somalia would be destroyed and you happily destroyed Somalia it’s done now you’re just a qabil. Ogaden are the most overrated tribe of Ethiopia wasnt there we would rule them like we do laas canood.

People often always overlook the war in Ethiopia were the SNM wiped out the WSLF. USC and SPM wouldn’t even be able to get to the south if the WSLF wasn’t wiped out first. Today isaaq have the economic hubs of the north in their hands. There are only 2 economic hubs the harar trade route and banadir. Somalia has no ability to wage war in the north they would need several times the economy of the north full embargo on SL lifting of the arms embargo and the world to mind their own business that’s just to wage war not to win it. You’d also need ethiopia to support the war, a somalia with that ability is a danger to the territial interigty of ethiopia so that would never happen. You’d also need hawiyes to be fully on board. That’s just to wage the war not to win it.

There was never a deal signed that indicated Somalia gave up on its claim to the Galbeed. During the meetings with Mengistu in 1986 and then 1988 it was for each country to stop supporting the opposing rebel groups, which never fully materialized since we kept supporting the WSLF and Ethiopia supported our clan based rebel groups as well.

Ethiopia at the time was dealing with uprisings from the Eritrean front as well as TPLF uprisings in the North. The Somali government was supporting the WSLF rebel group while Ethiopia supported the SSDF, SNM, USC, and SPM rebel groups. These are all undeniable facts. These rebel groups all worked in unison to overthrow the government with much outside support and would've never gotten anywhere if they were working alone as was shown by the defeats of both the SSDF and the SNM when they were not cooperating.

The SNM rebel group that operated in the north was predominantly an ishak movement, they operated out of Ethiopia and would sometimes attack border towns in the north. Once their support from Ethiopia was touted to be cut off they attacked Burco and Hargeisa with Ethiopian collusion, and were then subsequently decimated. The only effect they really had was bearing the brunt of the military on the very people they claimed to be "liberating"

The rationale of the government was fully justified as this was an armed violation of our sovereignty and legally constituted borders. The clan based rebel groups and the SNM in particular used the very citizens they claimed to be liberating as human shields in many instances and in all battle zones there will be civilian casualties.
