I say we should, it's strange how Eritrea, a country that uses Arabic as a working language is a non-member state while Somalia is. If you go on google, forums or quora, some people ask why Pakistan isn't a member state, the answer is usually because they're not Arab, but Somalia is?

I don't see any benefit to it, the Gulf states have zero respect towards Somalia, we're more of a nuisance to them, other than handing out some aid (which just makes us look bad, double points for famine stereotype lol), it's a one-sided relationship that doesn't benefit Somalis, some allege these Gulf states don't want us to develop our ports and descreetly support Al-Shabab, who knows.

I have no doubt in my mind that Arabs across the world would celebrate if Somalia left the Arab League, if we're being honest, we're not exactly adding prestige to the League by continuing to be a member state.

Let me LARP as an Arab in peace, when someone asks if I speak Arabic, for a second I escape the Dark Continent.

Why would arabs celebrate if we left?? Most Arabs dont hate or care about Somalis anyways believe me
Turks hate Syrians and Kurds, Lebanese are notorious for their phobia of others, Saudi men don't like their women getting married to their fellow Arabs lol. Somalis are seen as wannabe Arab/Turk parasites, they might not hate us or even care about us, but they sure as hell don't hold us in high regards, c'mon sxb.

Doesnt make sense to leave now anyways I blame Siad Barre for this nonsense, theyll just see us as traitors if we leave now

Most arabs think we are Arabs now and completely shocked when we dont speak Arabic,

What makes you say that? Tbh I've never heard of this

The Arab League should only have Arab States as members. Egypt wants South Sudan to join the Arab League and our moronic 'President' voiced his desire to apply as a permanent member, however, after South Sudanese expressed their disgust, Salva Kiir pushed for observe status instead.

Afwerki hijacked the country after independence and subdued the muslims who fought for the liberation of the country.
Most of afwerki's folks were pro ethiopia when muslim lowlanders were fighting for independence.

No, why you want to leave? Somalis already get benefits from being in arab league like studying free in arab countries like Egypt, Arab league citizens aren’t required to pay for education. And many other things.

Why one wants to leave a political orgs, countries join as much orgs as they could.

So can any of you state why you wanna leave?

the arab league could have been major for foreign policy and trade. arabic is big in eritrea. arab league could try depose afwerki and swallow eritrea. that would turn the red sea into an "arab river".

Well, Africa being dictated to by more external powers is precisely the last thing we need; people like Afwerki should be deposed, but that initiative should only come from within Sub-Saharan Africa.

We are only relevant right now because we’re in the Arab league.

I would make Arabic compulsory in school and actually expand our ties with Arab nations. The benefits we get from are so large in terms of aid, trade and geographical importance.

arabic is big in eritrea. and it is not foreign to eritrea or africa. and arabs are the biggest ethnolinguistic group in africa. calling arab league foreign is extremist because more arabs are in africa than the middle east and the arab league is based in cairo. africa is not a monolith. africa is like asia.

stereotypical "asians" = east asians and madows
eurasians = middle east etc and north africa
those inbetween the two = central asian turkics and horners

I suppose I am extreme in this case. I still see Arab culture as distant to the rest of the continent and would like a future unified Sub-Saharan Africa to treat them as such.

I have about as much regard for an Egyptian as I do a Japanese person; they mean nothing to me.

forget united sub saharn africa. ethiopia is kept together by over a century of continuous massacres. nigeria has artificial national cohesion. northern nigerian muslim nomads are highly different to the south. south africa and namibia are cucked countries. senegal has almost nothing in common with central africa apart from being mostly niger-congo speakers. slavic countries have their own beefs and arent united. central asians have their own beefs. yet you expect niger-congo + nilotes + cushites to unite? insane.

Are you worried that South Sudan, barely a decade old as an independent country, is going to throw away its independence to be part of a new larger country called East African Federation?

I think you've misunderstood the thematic hinge of my posts here; I don't want a unified Sub-Saharan Africa to be akin to the United States or an EU type Union with a common currency...

..I just think that Sub-Saharan Africa should have a common security and intelligence architecture that affirms the territorial integrity of African States; combats terrorism and insurgency; uses the significant natural resources and minerals of the continent to engage in collective bargaining in exchange for strategic and critical technologies from the West, Japan, China and Russia; conceives and enforces common regulations on industry and commerce; and creates common bodies for research and development.

Each Nation would still be independent and sovereign.

Yes, I don't think we're ready to integrate with Nations that have had decades of independence and peace; we need to develop to a certain level before jumping on board.

I think that a decentralised union would be favourable to a Federated State; Nations should still maintain their own political structures and processes.
