I'm trying to say that, with your logic and plan. People like Maya Jama and Chef Roble are able to get citizenship but if I was to be happily married to a Indian or a black or an cadaan guy, my children wouldn't be somali even if I instilled the deen and somali culture to the point they see themselves as members of the Somali community. 50% of my kids would be somali and the same with Maya as she is HALF for example. Kids are more likely to turn out like their mothers. If the mother is Somali then she is more likely to drill Somalinimo into her kids. I have seen 1/2 Somali kids from the mothers side and they are more Somali than any of the 1/2 Somali kids who were born to foreign mothers.

Somalia should follow maternal based citizenship, so we could get rid of tribalism. Tribalism is like the drug ice and we are the junkies. Isn't it time to be strong and quit this addiction? As my dear friend Larry illuminated above, tribalism has kept alive this wacky notion of citizenship which only bestows lip-service allegiances to the nation. Most Somalis identify with their tribal enclave rather than with the "nation". Isn't it time to get rid of it and find a better notion that can unite us all?
