Should Somalia ban Khat or Shisha?

We should at least cultivate the plants ourselves.

Somalia spends 40% of its foreign currency reserves on diesel and the rest on khat from Ethiopia and Kenya.

war on drugs is a fail even in the west. Its better to produce locally and regulate it. That way the money circulates in our own economy. PPl will step away from khat as living standards get better.

I heard Somaliland is trying to grow it's own khat to decrease the khat import from Ethiopia and keep the lacag within the country

Qat promotes laziness. men who chew it just sit around like cows all day with no energy. The only way to help somalis is to ban it. Look at somaliland, they've had no war in their area for over 2 and half decades and while they could have been building cities and an economy, they were sitting against walls sucking the juice out of green leaves. How can someone like that accomplish anything in life?

It’s proven to be a drug which has harmful effects on your health so why haven’t the sheikhs called for it to be banned? Pretty sure it’s because they don’t want to upset the men in Somalia.
