Here is another math class for you. 17.3% is almost 1/5 of the population of somalia (17%/100% is aprox 1/5 in case you don't get it). the other big cans in somalia are daroods,rahanweyne,hawiye,the smaller one like dir we can group them together with sheekal.
If we also add the few non somalis in the the dir group you get Isaaqs,daroods,rahnweyne,hawiye,(dir+sheekal+others) those are 5 different groups in somalia and isaaqs are 1/5 of the population,do you understand?

In this 2005 UNDP report it says: Northwestern regions (Awdal, w/galbadeed, Togdheer, Sool and Sanaag) are all 1,828,739.

The total population of Somalia is according to this report: 7,502,654.

That means the North as a whole is: 1,828,739/7,502,654x100: 24.37% of the population. Not just your little laangaab clan, the whole North is 24.37%.
