I don't think it's a bad idea to spread around the US in general. You can get a better opportunity to succeed in another state. Personally, I wish there were more Somalis in the south or in Cali. A lot of Somalis used to live in San Diego, which is an awesome city. The South has better weather and the people are nicer too. Lots of African diaspora communities in the South that are doing well. Nigerians settled mostly in Georgia and Texas, which was a good decision for them.

Very bad idea as them moving just increased the Somali population to more crime and visibility. At least when Somalis used to live in SD, they weren't targeted or anything. It's important for Somalis in Minnesota to stop having fear in moving to other states and stop being lazy and only relying on welfare and having many kids. I honestly hope to see More Somali entrepreneurs set up businesses in various states in the coming future, so we become less visible in Minnesota and thus won't be a target to these right wings anymore. I also hope they stop Somali immigration unless they are there to work or come in as students.

True, Somalis don't get tied down to one place very easily, which is a good thing. I think a lot of them will leave Minnesota in the coming years or decades. I have some cousins that have just moved out to Texas from Minneapolis after they finished college, they like it so far.

Somalis I have seen value family, hard work, friends, faith all traditional values respected around the world.

I think their is way to much suspicion and distrust of people who are different cultures. All cultures have good & bad. America certainly has it's issues but is a widely sought after refuge from many other cultures from around the world.
