If cadaans can pronounce korean names and foods and watch k dramas and go caca for east asian names and culture, they can 100% pronounce somali names without it having to be anglicisedπŸ˜‚

They would probably say it weird but i think the main issue is how unusual the names would look to an inexperiended with these names, they may probably ridicule the name because of how unusual it is, these other africans and also chinese take an english sounding name to avoid the hassle
But somali phonetics is close enough to english to transcribe it mostly

They can say Arnold Schwarzenegger like it’s water, I think they can handle Warsame

I don't think generally, but some names do need to be anglicised for them to understand.
Like Farax --> Farah. Cumar --> Umar.
But why? Why cater to them?

We will keep our names as they are and as Somali pronounced as our ancestral fathers 200 years ago did that once roamed Somali soil with these honourable names.

You want me to tell a little secret, it’s all about power, if Somaliweyn were to grow immensely powerful than Outsiders would have no problem pronouncing and digesting our names the same way they give long and mouthful Japanese names honour and pronounce it properly, Somali will be given an even greater privilege.

I personally don’t think it’d be ridiculed only because it sounds unusual to them but Cushitic names and Niger-Congo names are very visible and phonetically different that even outisders would notice so I don’t think we’d get the same hassle but only because it’s alien.
