In a united Somalia Warsangeli are a majority clan; in a divided Somalia they are a minority clan.
In a united Somalia there are no borders between Bosaso and Badhan, in a divided Somalia Warsangeli are cut in two.
The problem Somalis have is that they can’t dispassionately analyze the viewpoint of an enemy clan. When HG kill some MJ herder somewhere I don’t think these people are tribal and evil, I think the HG made a rational choice to eliminate an enemy that was grazing on land they believe belongs to them. There is no morality involved in Somali politics, there is only xoog.

Example of tribal reasoning that is rational and self interested:

This is abnormal, irrational human behavior. It is this kind of thinking that should be called tribalism. A hatred of other clans for no reason.

It is bad for the economic and social wellbeing of the Warsangeli to be split by a border. Creating customs checkpoints between Bosaso-Badhan, Dahar-Qardho would be detrimental to the interests of Warsangeli.
Somaliland as a project runs against the grain of the political/economic interests of the Dhulbahante and Warsangeli. This fact, more than anything, is why a Somaliland based on the borders set by the British will not gain independence.
No one is going to volunteer to become like Cafar in Djibouti.
