I made the thread really for the Deputy JL President quotes but the attack was more interesting as a headline and knew it’d be more relevant to others than the words of Aden.

Sayid Aden says the agreed September pull out is rushed. JL is clearly not ready and doesn’t want Kenya to leave. But FGS wants to take over security and EU doesn’t want to pay for ATMIS.

The Quick Pull out of Atmis forces will affect towns that are isolated and besieged. I don’t think KDF leaving Gariley will have much effect. Gariley is near the border across Kenya and can receive reinforcement from nearby districts like Diif, Ceelwaaq & Dhoobley if needed. Lower Juba & Daawo region have nothing to lose if foreign troops hand over FOBs to regional forces.

Lower Juba shares a close relationship with Kenya and their clansman across the border with security and business cooperation in place. Areas in JL that will be affected the most by Atmis withdrawal is Baardheere and Garbahareey because those two towns are completely isolated and they rely on Planes to enter and leave.

When Madoobe visited the troops in Janaa Abdalle a few months ago he highlighted that the most important rule for the upcoming Phase 2 is to not be besieged & cornered.I think they are planning to open up all the routes in the region before they launch operation Black Lion.

From raaskambooni-kulbiyow to dhobley it’s the most heavily guarded border with OG troops from jubaland kulbiyow alone has 2,000 the problem is the marexan gedo area it’s empty and they don’t live on the Kenyan side.
Also garissa county has Macawisley type of Kenyan somali troops who are locals there spread in the hawd in garisaa county-lower juba borders. That’s why the attacks they used to carry in small villages in garissa county became harder and non existent now.
