In his apology, which I thought to actually come off quite sincere, he said his mind moves too fast while speaking and he is often unable to control what he says or recall it afterward. I thought that was a somewhat troubling admission from somebody with such a big platform. People need to stop valuing superficial charm—which the sheikh has plenty of, at least with Salafi types—and start valuing depth and accuracy when it comes to choosing who to follow. The sheikh also needs to learn to shut up once in a while. Keeping your mouth shut is sunnah—the prophet Muhammad was not a bigmouth, he was a restrained fellow who spent a lot of time alone, at times in caves.

@Grigori Rasputin I am not his audience and cannot imagine what bizarre thoughts of his will excite them. Judging from the Salafi types on this forum and how chauvinistic they are to outsiders, what he said probably will help him with them. But the sheikh I think also wants to reach more upper-scale audiences—the rich suburban mosques attended mostly by professionals. He doesn't seem content with his current crowd—notice the change in marriage. Dumb generalizations based on ethnic stereotypes publicly spoken is a career killer in the 'Great Awokening'—and there are no second chances. RIP this sheikh.
