@BigShaq @Som You both should read this. It suggests these sculptures and writing tablets were unique to the region and were very different from the ones in southern Arabia and Ethiopia but rather they were a local flourishing in-land culture with buried cities. We need more archaeologists to discover these lost civilizations.

I agree. Geez and south arabian script are easily identifiable, same with sculptures. Someone should really look into it. The discovery an ancient indigenous somali civilization could have very huge political and social effects. Unfortunately somalis are generally not educated on their history especially pre-islamic history. The average somali doesn't know about Opone, Malao Sarapion etc and these things aren't really taught in school

You have nothing to lose but your chains
Sahih Muslim 969 a, 969 b
Abu'l-Hayyaj al-Asadi told that 'Ali (b. Abu Talib) said to him:
Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent me? Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it.

history is complicated (much of it will be lost outside of those that witnessed it.)
However - finding artifacts is always an amazing discovery to complete the picture!

we can never always truly known what happened then ago - but surviving works,
gives us that rush of excitement to eagerly learn knowing more. Amazing post.
