The amount of Somali ruby and emerald sellers is quite high on ali baba. It's quite shocking but it will be interesting to get into this game. I would love to store it away as long term asset like you do with a gold container. I wouldn't sell it immediately but wait till they run out in global market supply and tell my kids to only sell then.
And it's from PL we all knew that Bosaaso was a smuggler port as your guys overharvest frankincense as when cutting it off the trees you can't cut too much to allow it to grow back.

No enforcement
After carrying out ground analysis at ten different locations across the growing region, she reported an alarming trend of over-harvesting. She said: “If people in the region are over-relying on carterii trees, that of course leads to over-harvesting.”
As human-driven climate change sends the planet’s weather patterns spiraling in new directions, the region has also seen a change in rainfall. If the rainy seasons do not arrive, Dr DeCarlo says that harvesting may happen all year round.
In the past, the country’s government has had limited resources for promoting sustainable harvesting, with problems such as land degradation, deforestation and other environmental issues taking the main focus.
Dr DeCarlo said: “There’s no government regulation or enforcement of harvesting practices. The situation where there’s no enforcement, coupled with a higher price, can really cause over-harvesting.”
However, she said the Somaliland government is now taking a keen interest in the issue, and the Minister of Environment has even visited the area.

@SirLancelLord I personally avoid talking to this guy. His the one who was bragging about how SL is moving and charging forward based on 'essential item factorization' like milking plants and drinks and shit. Why would Awdal come all the way to Bosaso port? It's from Sanaag. They have emeralds, gems, and other diamonds. Not just gold from what I heard. All the mineral guys on the site are shipping from Bosaso, that's why @SirLancelLord was going furious about it

@Bohol you guys really need to sort out your region. Puntland is already asking for investors to join in the mining of Sanaag and get 50% equity position.

I kind of dismissed her claims at first till my father confirmed he was even given a few rocks to 'check' out it's grade when he lasted visited PL. Then I went on Ali Baba and saw it being sold or people asking for investors in mining. Seems like a big minerals race is happening in Sanaag.

I don't think Frankincense is a practised trade in SL, kind of like fishing, just because they have a coastline doesn't mean they have a fishing culture. It's kind similar to the darod in the south, just because their near farm land doesn't equate to them farming. SL and frankincense trade is a new thing for me to hear, never heard from any Somali that Somaliland practises Frankincense. It's a BARI localized industry.
I hear our frankincense used till today on Vatican.
