1. They started with calling themselves Sool, SANAAG and Cayn, yes, Dhulos live in Sanaag too, but we all know it's a majority Warsangeli deegaan, so why not consult them from day 1? I always noticed some resentment here from Warsangeli to Dhulbahante, and I'm sure it didn't help at all with these talks.

2. As soon as Puntland and other Harti helped them, AND whilst still being funded by Puntland and diaspora Harti, they fell for the HAG spell of 'recognition', in exchange of being a Gareen state. And even worse, they knew that they were being used by Culusow, to destroy Puntland, because we all know the only reason Culusow/HAG would help a 'Daarood', is to destroy another one.

All they had to do, was sit still, work with Puntland on removing Culusow/Damul Jadiid, and then the next pro-federal President would have been lobbied to recognise Khaatumo. Furthermore, Puntland would have been more willing to encourage talks between Warsangeli and Dhulbahante, if Khaatumo could have been trusted to hold the line.

Now Khaatumo has SNM on one side, and a deeply skeptical Puntland on the other side.
