On April 3, 2021, our beloved brother Habil Hassan was an innocent victim to a senseless act of gun violence. While going for a ride not far from home, Habil and a friend were both shot inside their car in a drive-by shooting. We are all devastated by Habil’s loss and this incident has shaken his family and the community.


Habil was a loving son, brother and friend. Habil was always known for his radiant smile and the genuine care he had for those around him. He will be missed deeply, and remembered as the beautiful, loving, enthusiastic and caring young man that he was. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn a life that was taken so young, but one that has not left in vain.


I am currently asking for donations to help his family lay his body to rest. The funds raised will go towards covering the costs of funeral arrangements and a donation in honour of Habil towards the construction of a school, orphanage and feeding of those less fortunate in Africa.


The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was quoted as saying “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another but that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah but that Allah raises his status.” صحيح مسلم‎



Sadaqah Jariyah is a gift that not only benefits others in this life but also benefits a person in the next. Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.”
