Russia should open a military base in Somaliland

Not only this but Russia should just go all the way and recognise SL as independent. After all they recognise breakaway states (South Ossetia and Abkhazia) and even annexed Crimea from Ukraine. This means they don't give a crap about international law or the feelings of other countries, especially fourth world skinny ans

Firstly, this is an opinion blog piece.

Secondly, there are too many maybes in this scenario. It requires Russia to leave their current base in Sudan, be interested in Ethiopia's economic growth and be sceptical of moving to Djibouti.

The article is essentially saying that if all three criteria are met then they would or should move to SL.

I am not going to give my opinion laakin I should remind everyone that its not a news piece but rather an opinion piece for a blog.

Makes no sense allying with Taiwan then befriending staunch China ally Russia it won't bring any benefit and will draw the ire of the US.

+ Don't wanna become Djbouti 2.0 with all the gaalo bases and prostitutes that brings

This opinion piece comes around once a year. Russia is not rich enough to have multiple bases. They are punching above their weight with former glory. One slip and China has them by the balls and can annex eastern Russia. 4 Million Chinese in eastern russia and not much Russians.

They have one base in Syria and wanted to open one in Africa. Russia is not a Naval power. They are a land power, men and tanks. Which is why they can threaten Europe but not America(Nukes aside).

Military bases never do anything for the people. Somaliland is good as it is mate
Military bases are great for development of the military and increasing funds. If SL is a democracy it will help the region unlike Djibouti which is basically a feeding haven for the gelleh family.

Russia Military in Somaliland kkk, sxb no offense but you'll will need to be an independent nation first in order to host Foreign nation's Army.

And we all know Somalia will never allow that ever, at best Somaliland is one of the 6 Federal States of Somalia.

China aren't expanding beyond what it claims and there is minimal tension in borders with Russia... As they made several agreements in the last few decades.

I think you forget the key information which is RECOGNITION.

Taking Taiwan and Russia at the same time? the first is an ally with the US, if you were wanting recognition from the US, then opening a base for Russia is not the smartest move for that. China is friend with Russia, to some degree. You already offended them by being friends with Taiwan. So you can get a pic of what you gonna create if you offered or opened a base for Russia

Yes, Somaliland would get instant international recognition by a UN Security Council member in which many other states will immediately follow suit including China as just like what happened last August a development package will be offered to ditch Taiwan which the government 100% will take :heh:

What's so ironic in all these proceedings is that Somaliland has high government officials who were trained and can speak Russian. For example, Wadani party leader was Somalia representative to the Soviet union :ohdamn:

Recognition doesn't matter, Somaliland should push for extracting resources. Recognition will just turn you into a recognized poor country(11th poorest in the world). The Taiwan path is the best path to take, you begin by developing your economy rapidly and then claim independance.

In SL due to low education and low population that would have to be in resource extraction. SL needs to do this fast as its regions are in the dryest regions of Somaliweyne.

However, i doubt anything will be done. When you have 70-80 year olds running the region and widespread corruption.
