AMISOM soldiers get paid about $1000 a month by the EU. That money can go the SNA and intelligence operatives and they would do a much better job in securing more of their areas. Since AMISOM has an incentive for the insurgents to be there since the mashruuc is a cash cow for them. It's counter-intuitive for them to successfully do their job. Hence their presence being more of mediator role since different groups couldn't sit down and talk their problems through. As long as the SNA continues to grow in capacity, coordination, and salaries things will begin to improve though.
It's obvious the situation is improving because you don't hear much attacks by the insurgent group anymore and our international partners have stepped up their aerial surveillance/bombardment campaigns alongside the army. Couple that with the advanced trainings provided by Turkey, and the future is looking bright. The only area that needs work is strengthening cohesiveness among different regions to ensure stability is built at a fundamental level. With limited funds and multiple players trying to push their interests through proxies the situation will be difficult but I believe our current leaders are cut out for the task.
