Ruling on getting a dog for protection of livestock?

What is the ruling on it? and how will it affect one's deeds and salah?

Was thinking of even domesticating a cheetah.

Nothing wrong with having one for farming or taking care of livestock. But then again this is only if you're willing to do ghusl all the time.
