This is great sxb. Some of the words could use some updating to get rid of the harshness of some old words and replace with a new Somali word from Somali root or vowel sound

Richness my ass viva Arabic. I love my loanwords.

I love arabic as well and classical arabic is the most beautiful language in the world. This Thread is not a call to erase all arabic loan from our culture rather it shows that we inherited a great and rich language from our forefathers that we don't value as much as we should. Go to Hargeysa and people will tell you their phone numbers in English...

@Libaaxseendheer and @CaliTedesse i researched it. I must correct myself. Baabuur i neither a somali word nor arabic. It's a loanword from the Ottman language (Language of the ottman empire, not the same like Turkish it differs a lot) which was loaned into the Arab language. However it has several meanings in different arabic dialects. In Yemen it means car in Algeria it means ship. In the Ottman empire it was a coffe maschine which worked with Gas.

So Arabs (Yemenis) took this word from the Turks (ottmans) and brought it into the somali culture.
