Somalilands electoral system is not based on tribes, when you register as a candidate you represent a constituent area and you must have at least an office in that location and have atleast minimal support from populace.

Those Eastern regions, allot didn't register as candidates and the ones that did didn't get votes because they all boycotted it. If they fully engaged they would most likely dominate.

Just ask the Sool Community a large number are fully active and vote and they got allot of projects diverted to them as well as local authority jobs

In 2005, less than 15 years removed from the evils committed by Afweyne, the majority of the Isaaq voted for a guy who was Afweyne's Chief NSS agent in the North, over the guy who led the SNM for the vast majority of it's time. Take a moment to think about what that really means.
In the most recent election, the biggest vote getter in all of Somaliland, was a minority clan member whose voter base was mostly Isaaq's.

I think your anti-Isaaq nature makes your thinking very flawed and detached from reality. If there is a strong Dhulbahante or Warsangeli leader, they very easily could win in Somaliland. There's practically zero chance they could win in Somalia or Puntland, because the dynamics are just very different.

But I agree they cant get a party because their numbers might not be enough. SNL/NUF parties had 80% of the 1960 votes and the USP had about 20%. SNL/NUF were the Hargeisa/Burco/Ceerigaabo parties. The USP party was the Laascaanood/Badhan/Borama/Zeylac party. The 1960 election is the only clean and internationally recognized election held in Soomaliland even tough some say the Mariona/NUF was cheated by SNL to help the minority USP

Saaxib, you shouldn't speak in such absolute terms on a subject you clearly don't know much about. Riyaale won a significant majority of the HA vote, in addition to those you've mentioned. The HA was probably his biggest voting block besides his own Samaroon vote.

A section of Sacad Musa in Hargeisa have supported Riyaale. His home base was Samaroon, HY and the powerful Cissa Musa in Berbera, his own VP.

Riyaale had the full support of 2 Isaaq sub clans + Sameroon.

Kahin is underrated. He played on the HY/HJ rift and appeased Cisse Musa to secure his presidency. He later used the same tactic on Dhulbahante pitting the Jamac Siyaad & Baharsame against the Ugadyahaan to capture Laascanood.
