This is not the start of anything. It can end up having catastrophic consequences for the west, however. Let’s say the Gaza death toll reaches 50,000, which is entirely possible. A 1973-style oil embargo by OPEC will have drastically worse effect than it did in 1973. It directly helps Russia and accelerates the demise of Ukraine. Western Europe is more concerned with their backyard than supporting Israel. Same thing with the US.
You might end up seeing disheveled EU and US spokespersons hastily holding news conferences and condemning Israel.

Wtf!?!? Despite Israeli forces entering Gaza and intensifying their operations, this is not the anticipated the 'larger' ground operations, which is not set to happen now
