Reports are saying there will be a full presidential system and the PM position will be scrapped.

Has changing the system of government from Parliamentary to Republican been deliberated, and passed by the Legislature? Just effecting major amendments to the Constitution, without the Parliament, or Upper Chamber involved, and with not all stakeholders being present. Very odd.

BREAKING: Historic political agreement officially confirmed:
There will be one person, one vote election from next year. Elections take place once every five years.
In this new agreement, there will be single constituency, proportional representation closed list electoral system.
Somali leaders have agreed to abolish the Premier post. There will be a Presidential system. President and Vice President will be elected directly by the people on a single ticket. (Current Presidentβs term ends May 2026).
The country will only have two political parties which will compete democratically for the peopleβs vote.
Unified election schedule for regional elections. First popular local council elections nationwide including Banadir (Mogadishu) take place June 30, 2024.
Regional parliaments and regional leadership elections take place in Nov 30, 2024.

The President & Vice President will be voted in by the nation. The Premiership which was traditionally appointed by the President and can be sacked at any given moment has been reformed. Hamza will be the last PM of Somalia and will complete the full 5 year term with the president.

This is some system made in a marfish. There are so many loopholes and it will be dismantled rather quickly. These southern politicians wey iska hadlaan walahi. This is just a means to get extension. HSM is not even 2 years president and heβs already thinking of extension because year was a complete waste with donor countries not giving them a dime.
