Reporter covering Mogadishu for the last 30 years weighs in on current situation

Long story short 30th anniversary and not much has changed. In fact the situation is arguably the worst it has been since 91

Damn didn’t know there were that many Bantus in xamar but I’m not surprised.
Obviously they’re over represented in mogadishu/idp camps and the south in general.

This leads people to believe Somalis look like Bantus since international media only covers negativity/ idp camps and conflict in xamar

At the 2:35 mark in the video he clearly says "there's been a lot of improvement, the streets are cleaner, a lot more building new hotels and so on" since this administration gained power just a short 4 years ago.

At the end of the video the 5:27 mark he also says that the government institutions was completely obliterated in 91' causing widespread anarchy and islamist movements to form.

It's much easier to destroy something than it is to to build. Government institutions that were largely nonexistent from 91-2016 can't be fixed in just 4 years with much of the time being waste on internal and external actors looking to destabilize your work in progress.

As for the idp camps and bantus that is just another symptom of what anarchy brings, these western reporters want to go to the worst places since that is what they want to represent the country to the outside world.
