They seem to be buying/raiding the SNA for weapons. The SNA is corrupt/inept and is leaking weapons to Alkabab. Absolute shambles.
No wonder Alkabab getting stronger.

The SNA was more like a clan militia pre-2018. After 2018 soldiers were biometric registered and Specific weapons assigned to each soldier. Turkey does not supply AK47. When u see a terrorist wielding Mpt-76 then u can talk.This report prove weapons used by alkabab from UAE old camp in Xamar.
Plus SNA were selling their weapons for money.
Its 2021 now and the reports still saying "PL region is the PRIMARY entry point for illicit arms and explosives flow into Somalia." They didn't just explosives but illicit arms too. They also did not mention SNA or any other state.

The entry point of illicit weapons obtained by terrorist Al Shabab is not a secret.
Al Shabab and ISIL obtain the vast majority of their weapons from inflation-stricken Puntland region.
2020 United Nations Security Council reports explicitly names Puntland as the primary entry point for illicit arms and ammunition into Somalia:
Four illicit shipments of weapons and ammunition are delivered every month to Al Shabab and ISIL via Puntland region entry points. The UN panel provided photographic evidence that was redacted in the published report:
This is not news, Al Shabab receiving weapons via Puntland has been reported on by UN experts since 2018.
There is also the extremely shady links Puntland desert region has with Iranian terror cells:
