Repairing The Somali Museum Of Minnesota -- Fundraising Goal Met

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered their support. Thank you for all the prayers and Love. The unity of our community has always been our driving force. As leaders in the community, and protectors of history and culture we are hurt by the murder of our brother George Floyd. We empathize with the anger and the pain of our community. The unjust killings of our black brothers and sisters has got to end. It is time for History to stop repeating itself. We pray that everyone stays safe during this time. We Pray that Allah protects the protesters fighting for justice. Our building was vandalized and looted but more importantly, We are all safe, Alhamdulilah. The World's Only Somali Museum Founded in 2011, the Somali Museum of Minnesota opened the doors of its public gallery in 2013 as North America's first and only museum devoted to Somali culture. At last update, the Somali Museum of Minnesota was the only museum of Somali culture anywhere in the world. The Somali Museum is the home of Somali creativity in North America, and is a global leader in advancing and elevating the work of Somali artists, traditional and contemporary. As protectors of history, and leaders in the community. Help us rebuild, so we can continue to work for the community. All proceeds will go towards fixing damages and replacing stolen artifacts. Thank you, May Allah reward your generosity.

Somali owned businesses affected by rioters

My name is Mowlid Khadar Jigre. My father is the owner of Jigjiga business center LLC. We own a small business in Minneapolis, MN which was vandalized, looted and robbed. Due to the Minneapolis riots and the death of George Floyd a lot of black Somali owned businesses were affected by the riots. Our goal is to distribute the donations evenly the best we can. Starting with the midtown-Phillips and uptown areas the areas that were hit the hardest. Some small businesses can’t recover from this. Please find it in your heart to donate what you can.

We are incredibly grateful for the generous support we've received the last few days. We've exceeded our goal and so we are suspending our campaign. We are very inspired to see how the community mobilized and showed up for one another. Please connect with us on Facebook to get updates on how your donations are being spent. Thank you!

Please continue to support those in the community that still need our support.
