Regards on behalf of Somali Galbed to General Siyad Barre.

I wish to pass my regards on this day to General Siyad Barre who literally placed his regime on the line to free Somali Galbed then later ressetled over 1 million Somalis from all clans including some Oromos who had fled the Ethiopian army, after recapturing Galbed, in Somalia despite the government being broke.
My grandfather and his family, who was born in warder in the Ogaden but later moved to nfd after the Ethiopians overran the darawish, was personally settled By barre in Kismayo in 1974 alongside other clan chieftains after being exiled from NFD for refusing to disarm their sub clan and refusing to recognize the authority of the Kenyan government in NFD.

FYI: Those thinking I'm speaking out of privilege got no clue what we passed through, The regime only took care of us for 2 years till 1976 when my grandad died. His children were made foot soldiers(despite the close ties he had with Barre's maternal side before in Galbed)they participated in the 1977 war, then later 3 lost their lives fighting rebels, two by SPM(their own clansmen)

You do realise that the 1977 war prolonged his presidency by 14 years? It made the country weaker but he got more powerful and got rid of a lot of officers that were eyeing his seat. MSB was a master in Machiavellian politics

Galbed was only half Ogaden, all somali clans lived there.
His own rer koshin sub clan too.
And Somali nationalism was popular back then so eventually somalis would've invaded Galbed with or without MSB

Siad Barre trusted in James Carter, this decision was a huge mistake.
