You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. Habar Gidir is a clan, you just said Reer Xamar don't have a clan, so how can Habar Gidir be a Reer Xamar clan?

To be fair to OP he's just going based off of what people on here say they come from I'm sure, and not clan. Although there is usually an overlap.

He means cad cads (reer xamar) don't have clans. They do have family names though thats just what they're referred to collectively.

I'm just trying to clear up the confusion. @Shangani is Reer Xamar, an ethnic Somali whose ancestors are from Mogadishu is not Reer Xamar.

I did not say that. Mogadishu prior to the civil war had communities from all clans. I'd even go as far as to say most Somalis in the diaspora were born or lived in Mogadishu at some point in their lives.

Yes, there is residents from all clans but not all clans are locals.

Ive noticed a lot of people understand that term differently to how we do, especially on this forum. OP just means people from Muqdisho, if you mean Reer Xamar (cadcads) fair enough, but your initial post you said something about post 91 arrivals which implied to me all ethnic Somalis were new arrivals.

the hiraab imamate took over xamar during the 1800's, kicking out the ajuraans(another hawiye group). In in terms of living there we lived there long before the 1800's even the ajuuraan empire which dates back to the 1600's had a heavy hiraab population. cads cads are relatively new.
