Labo: while PL population support for the offensive is admirable and the southerners can learn a thing or two, the dynamics are different in many ways. Dacish and shabab aren’t the same in power, strength, numbers and resources in Somalia. I simply don’t don’t believe PL has found the magic bullet to counter these kinds of groups, especially since they have aerial support and Dacish roughly number less than a thousand men.

And as I said before, the political conditions in the South and PL were never the same to make a comparison to begin with. As Midas wrote, South had numerous foreign interventions and was the centre of different factions being supported by neighbouring states to control the capital. The south was also more diverse and shabab took Advantage of the brutal warlord era and the subsequent Ethiopian occupation to build their support base.

Puntland is far easier to control for an administration than southern Somalia because it is essentially one clan and does not have the population size or resources of the south. Puntland itself had civil wars in the past and they even called the Ethiopians in to stop the ICU advance at the gates of Galkacayo. Even now, though Dacish doesn’t have popular support amongst the clans there, Mumin was first able to enter the area and make a hideout because he was seen as a “local”. Look how much trouble he has caused to almost make PL the epicentre of Dacish in the world. Do you think he would be able to set up base there if he was from Hargeysa? The arms trade to these groups is also ran by some prominent men from that region who smuggle them weapons from Yemen. what I am saying to you is that these groups take control of areas using different means and by largely exploiting social and political unrest.


The fact that they are able exploit some clan tensions in south more easily and they’ve built more success is not solely due to clans “loving these groups” as some retards are trying to claim. It is far more complicated and some clowns here are purposely trying to pretend these nuances do not exist. You can’t compare areas with homogenous clans to places like the capital where the legacy of aideeds and the following warlords eras, then the foreign interventions, set the pace for many of the events we see happening. This is the reality if we want to make genuine political analysis as opposed to people who think their clan defeated Hitler when they are a fighting a small ragtag militia consisting of Arabs, oromos and a few locals cave dwellers.

Actually, it wasn't really a civil war. It was more like a short lived power struggle that was resolved quickly by clan elders and the state political stakeholders before it could spiral into a chaotic civil war like the one that happened in Xamar. That is another thing good about reer Puntland. They resolve political issues quickly before hell breaks loose. Even if it is between two guys who don't like each other such as Deni and Diyaano.

In regards to ICU, they would've been stopped crossing into PL even without foreign troops. It would be seen as Hawiye militia trying to invade Darood land. That would heavily motivate Puntlanders to fight and stop them going into PL territory.

And yes, that bastard Mumin comes from one of the local clans and he has received some assistance from local businessmen. I'm not denying that. And if i wake up tomorrow morning, and find out he has been killed, then that would make me super happy. But still, my point stands. Which is the overwhelming vast majority of reer PL do not support wahhabi terror ideology. And I'll say it again, that is precisely the reason why Mumin recruited Oromos, Arabs, and other foreigners. Even when Kebab attacked PL they would almost always recruit from people hailing from the south. Because they too found it very hard to recruit from the local population. If you are this insecure about the mere mention of PL you simply need to not read my posts. There is also no way to prove anything I wrote here is motivated by jealousy or my Qabil. I never belittled PL war against ISIS. I prevented yo guys from exaggerating a war against 800 men holed up in a small area and using this dehumanise southern Somalis who face a far more menacing force.

I also contextualised the differences in Southern Somalia and how the many foreign interventions/warlords era/diversity etc make this an unfair comparison.
