They’re mixed Somalis who’ve lived in Somalia for more than 700 yrs. We have records of these folks being here for that long and still they can’t rest.
What’s happened to us Somalis? We’ve somehow regressed. I really can’t imagine my grandfathers and those before them debating about the Somalinimo of mixed raced Xamaris who’ve lived in their community for centuries. The issue is that some Benaadiris are trying to revise Somali history claiming their ancestors are the indigenous in Somalia and that ethnic Somali came from Ethiopia.
Banaadiri descend from Arab and south Asian migrants who settled in Somalia with the permission of the Somali clans that ALREADY lived there.
That’s only a few mad ones on Twitter who are made to feel they don’t belong. Everyone knows that ethnic Somalis came first. We’ve been in Somalis for like 5k+. They’ve only been here for like 800 yrs.
