Weird how immigrants from outside the US settle in multi-cultural states but Somalis settle in predominately white conservative areas in the mid west. Why?

I know right I think is because before the civil war Somalis didn't need to migrate anywhere our population outside of Somalia was very small. Finally when the war broke out we were misplaced everywhere we lost everything and that's where the USA missionary stepped in to try and relocate Somalis to places where they would accept refugees e.g minnesota ohio. Do you think at that time Somalis can be able to afford to live in big cities such as LA or New York??
